Changes, what the future holds.

Seekopia has had quite a few changes. There have been obstacles we've had to deal with but the future is looking bright.

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I posted an update. Seekopia has gone through many changes. Too many to list in one post. However, I will explain what's been happening lately.

While Seekopia's popularity has grown, there has unfortunately also been an increase in the number of spam posts submitted. This was inevitable. We needed to sit down and decide how we could deal with this problem to ensure Seekopia still has a future.

What we came up with is quite different to what I initially expected. Whilst previously all posts were manually approved by our editors, they will now be approved instantly. That way, we help those bloggers who post good stuff but end up waiting ages for their posts to be approved as we go through the vast amount of spam submitted.

Anyone using Seekopia can now send in a spam report when they come across a spammy post. The moment this happens, our editors are instantly notified and the post is reviewed. If it is indeed spam, then the post is marked as spam and removed from Seekopia's front end. As soon as a blogger has 3 posts marked as spam, he will be unable to add or edit posts until they are deleted. This way, rather than completely banning users who spam, they are given a second chance.

Keep in mind that regardless of how many spam reports we receive, our editors will still constantly review posts being added. If it's spam, then you will receive an email notification telling you why and what you need to do to fix the situation.

Another change we just released is the way you create posts. We have taken tagging and given it a new twist. We call it: tagged tagging.

What this means is that as you add a post, you can tell Seekopia who or what you're talking about. This can be a company, product, person, event, location and so on. If you're taking about the World Cup, then you would choose 'Event' and write 'World Cup' as the name of the event. This not only tells that you're talking about the World Cup, but it also specifies that your post is regarding an event. In a few weeks time, we will be changing your homepage to use these new filters.

Interested in events? Check the events module. Interested in posts about locations? Check the locations module. Not too fond of company posts? Hide them completely. You get the picture.

We will be telling you more about this in the coming weeks. Until then, don't forget to tag your posts!

Besides all this, Seekopia has had its design slightly changed, its homepage updated, the advertising temporary removed, trending topics added and much more. We've been working very hard and will continue to do so. In case you're wondering what's happened to the advertising section, we took a decision to temporarily disable it for now, until we come up with something even better.

As always... suggestions, questions... let us know.
